Basmati Rice

Basmati Rice


  • 2 Cups of Basmati Rice
  • 2 Cups of Green Peas
  • ¼ Cup Olive Oil
  • 3 Cups of Water
  • 1½ Tsp. Kosher Salt
  • 1 Tbsp. Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Green Cardamoms
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick


  1. Rinse the rice with room temperature water until the water runs clear. Drain well using a mesh strainer.
  2. Heat a saucepan with oil over medium-high heat. When oil gets hot add the cumin seeds, green cardamom, cinnamon stick, green peas, rice, salt, and 3 cups of water. Stir the ingredients together.
  3. Bring to a boil over high heat for 5 minutes, then reduce the heat to low and cook, covered, for 8 to 10 minutes or until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  4. Removed rice from the heat, and fluff gently with a fork.
