Indian Basmati Rice Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 Cups of Basmati Rice
- 2 Cups of Green Peas
- ¼ Cup Olive Oil
- 3 Cups of Water
- 1½ Tsp. Kosher Salt
- 1 Tbsp. Cumin Seeds
- 2 Green Cardamoms
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
Instructions
- Rinse the rice with room temperature water until the water runs clear. Drain well using a mesh strainer.
- Heat a saucepan with oil over medium-high heat. When oil gets hot add the cumin seeds, green cardamom, cinnamon stick, green peas, rice, salt, and 3 cups of water. Stir the ingredients together.
- Bring to a boil over high heat for 5 minutes, then reduce the heat to low and cook, covered, for 8 to 10 minutes or until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Removed rice from the heat, and fluff gently with a fork.
